The GARHIO website is a communication vehicle for healthcare stakeholders. GARHIO is headquartered in Athens Georgia and its primary focus is to provide Health Information Exchange services to stakeholders in Georgia Department of Public Health Districts 2 and 10 . District 2 and 10 encompass almost all of Northeast Georgia. The information delivered via this portal is designed to facilitate healthcare information interoperability. GARHIO promotes the adoption of the Electronic Health Record (EHR), the adoption of the Personal Health Record (PHR) and community wide participation in Health Information Exchange (HIE).
Mission Statement
The Georgia Regional Health Information Organization is a trusted business partner for health care providers and consumers. GARHIO creates value by aggregating healthcare information wherever it is available to create Health Information Exchange (HIE).HIE serves as a vehicle for consolidating personal health information, encouraging population wellness, improving care quality and managing healthcare delivery expense.
The initial focus of GARHIO was the establishment of a Health Information Exchange for the following Athens-Clarke and surrounding nine counties of Northeast Georgia designated by the Georgia Department of Community Health as Region10: Barrow, Elbert, Greene, Jackson, Madison, Morgan, Oconee, Oglethorpe and Walton. The geographic focus has now been expanded to include Region 2 which has many of the same rural characteristics.
